The Prune Archive File
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you Prune your message base(s), i.e., remove old messages
which are no longer required, Power-QWK will do one of two
things with the Pruned messages.
1. Throw them away for ever;
2. Append them to the Prune Archive File nominated in the
Power-QWK Configuration.
If you choose option 2 then the Prune Archive file is seen by
Power-QWK as a conference named PRUNE. By entering this
conference, you can read and reply to messages just as though
they were still in their original conference.
Note that when you prune ALL conferences, Power-QWK does not
prune the Prune Archive file. To prune this file, highlight the
conference named PRUNE at the Power-QWK Conference Selection
Menu and then press P. The best time to do this is immediately
following a prune of ALL conferences.
Note also that, even if you elect to use a Prune Archive File,
you can still be selective about which conferences are included
in it. Power-QWK maintains a prune archive Map, in a file named
POWERQWK.MAP, which specifies which conferences are included and
excluded. If you never specifically include or exclude a
conference then all pruned conferences are included and the file
POWERQWK.MAP is never created. To include or exclude a conference
from the Prune Archive, highlight the conference name at the
Power-QWK Conference Menu and then press M for Map.
